This oriental fruit is currently used in Chinese medicine against water retention due to its marked ability to induce diuresis. Its extract is used in the treatment of kidney stones, gout and rheumatism, all problems caused by an excess of uric acid; this is why the alchechengi is able to reduce the amount of acid in the blood and favors its elimination through urine. The mix of tannins, citric acid and sugars contained in the plant is precious, but above all the quantity of vitamin C present in the berry is even double compared to other fruits.
